Active voice

Use active voice (in which the subject of the sentence is the person or thing performing the action) instead of passive voice (in which the subject of the sentence is the person or thing being acted upon), though there are exceptions.

Example

Passive voice: The report can be generated by clicking the OK button.

Active voice: Click OK to generate a report.
